Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal is set to move into bungalow number 5 on Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens’ Delhi on Friday, shortly after resigning as chief minister. This property, located near AAP’s headquarters, was originally allocated to the party’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Ashok Mittal. Earlier on Friday, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia relocated to a bungalow on Rajendra Prasad Road, designated for AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. Saurabh Bharadwaj, an AAP leader, confirmed the move during a press conference. ollowing his decision to vacate 6, Flagstaff Road—where he resided since 2015—Kejriwal received offers of accommodation from various party leaders, including MPs, MLAs, and councillors. The new residence will house Kejriwal and his family, positioning him closer to the AAP headquarters as he prepares for upcoming elections in Delhi and other states.
Kejriwal’s resignation came as a surprise after his release from Tihar Jail, where he spent over five months due to allegations related to the excise policy scam. He expressed intentions to return to the chief minister’s office only after receiving a “certificate of honesty” from the electorate in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February. he previous residence, 6, Flagstaff Road, had faced scrutiny from the BJP, which labeled it “Sheesh Mahal” due to alleged reconstruction irregularities. Meanwhile, Sisodia’s family has transitioned from the AB-17 bungalow on Mathura Road, originally assigned to him as deputy chief minister, to their new location. AAP’s current chief minister, Atishi, is yet to finalize her new address, with options including the Mathura Road residence or the Flagstaff Road bungalow.
