New Delhi/Panjab Post
The upcoming Quad Leaders Summit, originally scheduled to be held in India, will now take place in the United States. The White House announced that President Joe Biden will host the summit at his personal residence in Wilmington, Delaware, on September 21. This marks the first time President Biden will host foreign leaders in Wilmington, reflecting the close personal ties he has with each Quad leader and the significance of the Quad partnership.
The Quad, consisting of India, Australia, Japan, and the US, rotates the hosting duties for their annual summit. While India was initially set to host this year, the summit has been shifted to the US, with India slated to host next year. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized that this summit will underscore President Biden’s commitment to the Quad and its goals. The agenda will center on strengthening strategic ties among the Quad nations, promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and addressing key issues such as health security, disaster response, maritime security, infrastructure development, emerging technologies, climate change, and cybersecurity.
