The Israeli military has confirmed the death of Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas’ military wing, following an airstrike in Gaza on July 13. Deif was reportedly targeted in the Khan Yunis area as part of an ongoing effort to counteract Hamas’ activities.
The announcement came just a day after the assassination of Hamas’ political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran. Haniyeh’s killing has been attributed to Israel by both Iranian and Hamas sources, although Israel has not officially acknowledged involvement.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Deif’s death was confirmed after a thorough intelligence assessment. Meanwhile, Hamas has not officially confirmed Deif’s death, with spokesperson Ezzat Rashaq insisting that any news regarding the fate of their leaders would only come directly from Hamas itself.
This development follows Israel’s earlier confirmation of the death of a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut earlier this week, highlighting the ongoing regional tensions and conflicts.
