Former U.S. President Donald Trump has compared the recently released hostages by Hamas to Holocaust survivors, citing their deteriorated physical condition. In a video shared by the White House on Monday, Trump stated, “Hamas has been a disaster. I watched the hostages return today, and they looked like Holocaust survivors. They were in terrible condition—emaciated and weak.” He further emphasized the severity of their suffering, saying, “Even those released earlier were in slightly better shape, but mentally they endured horrific treatment. At some point, our patience will run out. When I see people coming off helicopters and planes looking like they haven’t eaten in a month, there is simply no reason for that.”
Trump also expressed frustration over the ongoing crisis, questioning, “How much longer can we take this? These were once healthy individuals, and now they appear to have aged decades. The resemblance to Holocaust survivors is undeniable.” Additionally, he addressed the future of Gaza, outlining his vision for redevelopment. As reported by CNN, Trump described Gaza as a “major real estate opportunity” and suggested that the U.S. could take a leading role in its reconstruction. “We don’t want Hamas to return. Think of it as a significant real estate site, and the United States will oversee its development—gradually, at our own pace—to bring stability to the Middle East,” he remarked while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One during his trip to the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during his visit to Washington, reaffirmed Trump’s strong ties with Israel. Speaking at a joint press conference, Netanyahu praised Trump’s unwavering support, stating, “You are the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House, and that’s why the people of Israel hold you in such high regard.” The remarks underscore Trump’s stance on the Middle East conflict, his concerns about the treatment of hostages, and his vision for the future of Gaza’s reconstruction under U.S. influence.
