In a recent address at an election rally in Ramban district, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed India’s willingness to engage in dialogue with Pakistan, provided it ceases its support for terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking in support of BJP candidate Mohd Saleem Bhat, Singh emphasized that the revocation of Article 370 was a necessary step to alleviate the suffering of the people in J-K and to foster regional prosperity.
“Pakistan must take decisive action to halt its support for terrorism,” Singh asserted. He highlighted the importance of improving relations with neighboring countries but stressed that such improvement hinges on Pakistan’s commitment to end its involvement in terrorism. “We are eager to enhance relations with Pakistan, but that will only be possible once they stop their terrorism activities,” Singh stated to a large crowd.
Singh further pointed out that terrorism has disproportionately affected Muslims in the region, with 85 percent of the victims being from the Muslim community. “Terror incidents were a grim reality in Kashmir, and it is clear that a significant majority of those who suffered were Muslims,” he noted.
Earlier, during a rally in nearby Ramban in support of BJP candidate Rakesh Singh Thakur, Singh revealed that over 40,000 lives had been lost due to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
