Vice President Kamala Harris is poised to secure the Democratic presidential nomination, having emerged as the only candidate to qualify for the party’s upcoming virtual roll call.
With 3,923 delegates backing her candidacy, Harris, 59, received overwhelming support, capturing 99 percent of delegate votes. The Democratic Party announced late Tuesday that no other contender met the necessary threshold of 300 delegate signatures to advance to the ballot.
Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Jaime Harrison and Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) Chair Minyon Moore confirmed that the virtual roll call, which will formally designate Harris as the party’s nominee, is set to take place from August 1 to August 5.
In their joint statement, Harrison and Moore highlighted the clear consensus among delegates, underscoring Harris’s broad support across the Democratic Party.
