Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha on Monday, marking his return to the lower house of Parliament for a third consecutive term. Modi and his Council of Ministers had previously taken their oaths on June 9.
This marks Modi’s third term as a Lok Sabha member, having retained the Varanasi seat which he has held since 2014. As Leader of the House, Modi was the first to take the oath in today’s proceedings.
Earlier in the day, B Mahtab also took oath as a member of the new House, along with assuming the role of pro-tem speaker at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
