Russian President Vladimir Putin has identified India, along with China and Brazil, as key international partners he is engaging with regarding the ongoing Ukraine conflict. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Putin highlighted these nations’ sincere efforts towards resolving the crisis, as reported by state-owned TASS and US media outlet Politico.

Putin expressed willingness to resume negotiations if Ukraine is interested, noting that an initial agreement from early in the conflict, negotiated in Istanbul but never implemented, could serve as a foundation for renewed talks. “We respect our friends and partners, particularly China, Brazil, and India, who genuinely seek to address the issues surrounding this conflict,” Putin stated.

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov suggested that India could play a crucial role in facilitating dialogue on the matter.

In other political news, Putin made a provocative comment expressing a preference for US Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election, citing her “infectious” laugh. This remark came a day after US authorities charged two Russian media executives with attempting to influence the election.

In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Andrii Sybiha, a former ambassador to Turkey, as the new foreign minister. This change comes as Zelenskyy seeks to rejuvenate his administration amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. Sybiha replaces Dmytro Kuleba, and Zelenskyy plans further replacements among top officials since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in early 2022.
