Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed concerns over the alignment of the Congress party with anti-national elements, following comments made by Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif. Shah stated that Asif’s remarks about the Congress and National Conference backing the restoration of Article 370 and 35A reveal a troubling connection between the opposition party and Pakistan.
In a statement on X, Shah claimed that the Congress has consistently echoed the sentiments of Pakistan and has been “hand in glove with anti-national forces.” He accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress of undermining national interests and supporting initiatives that contradict India’s stance, particularly regarding the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
Shah emphasized that the Congress’s history of questioning military actions against Pakistan and its alignment with what he described as anti-India forces has been evident. He reiterated that under the current Modi government, there will be no return to the provisions that previously granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Asif’s comments, made in the context of upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, highlighted a perceived unity between the Shehbaz Sharif-led government and the Congress-National Conference coalition regarding the push for Article 370’s restoration. This dialogue reflects the ongoing political dynamics in the region since the constitutional changes five years ago, which divided Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
