Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s election campaign boosted by the presence of Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar

The election campaign of Taranjit Singh Sandhu, BJP candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency, received a great boost when the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of India, Dr. S Jaishankar joined the drive and interacted with the public. During the process of submitting the nomination papers yesterday, Dr. S. Jaishankar was present in Amritsar and thereafter he addressed a large gathering of the people and intellectuals of the city during a function held at the Art Gallery of Amritsar.
Appreciating Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s services as India’s ambassador to foreign lands and especially to a country like USA, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that during this period Sandhu has rendered exemplary services which have greatly benefited the nation. Dr. S. Jaishankar said that Taranjit Singh Sandhu has served the country wholeheartedly and now the time has come for him to serve the city of Amritsar and he can duly do so only when the people of Amritsar choose him as their representative in the parliament.
During the Intellectual Summit at Amritsar Art Gallery, he also shared a picture of the plan drawn up by the Modi government for a developed India and of the advanced vision in place for Amritsar. He spoke in great lengths about Taranjit Singh Sandhu’s tenure in America which has played an important role in ending the black list of Sikhs created by the Congress government and further, in providing exemptions in passport and visa laws for Sikhs who have taken political asylum in America. In a similar manner, Taranjit Singh Sandhu proved his diplomatic wisdom by taking America’s relations with India to new heights.
Important issues, including India’s foreign affairs, trade, defence, technology, education, were also duly discussed in this event. It was during this discussion that Bhupinder Singh Randhawa expressed the sentiments of Sikhs and Punjabis about the Kartarpur Sahib corridor, in response to an important concern, which includes the charging of a $20 fee to go to Kartarpur Sahib along with requiring a passport. Addressing this issue, Dr. S Jaishankar said that the $20 fee was not imposed by us but by Pakistan. He assured that he will definitely raise this issue with the Government of Pakistan and we will try to take a decision on it so that people who want to visit Kartarpur Sahib can do so without any hassle.
