*Former President Donald Trump Declines Further Debates with Vice President Kamala Harris
Washington DC/Panjab Post
In a recent development, former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for the upcoming presidential election, has declared that he will not participate in any additional debates with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee. Trump’s announcement came via Truth Social, his personal social media platform, where he asserted his victory in the debate held by ABC News in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Trump also accused Harris of avoiding debate invitations from major networks including Fox News, NBC News, and CBS News.
Vice President Harris, however, has countered Trump’s claims. In a response posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), Harris emphasized the importance of holding another debate for the benefit of the voters. Her campaign echoed this sentiment, asserting that Harris emerged victorious in the first debate. According to the campaign, Harris effectively addressed all critical issues pertinent to American voters.
A CNN poll following the debate indicated that 63 percent of viewers felt Harris performed better during the Philadelphia debate. Additionally, Fox News reported that out of a panel of 17 voters, 12 considered Harris the winner, while only five thought Trump had the upper hand. Many panelists noted that Trump struggled to effectively challenge his new opponent.
The New York Times reported a mixed reaction post-debate: while Democratic strategists and officials praised Harris’s performance, Republican commentators criticized the moderators’ questioning style and acknowledged Trump’s missed opportunities for impactful counterarguments.
